Friday Finish…eek!

I love this little wall hanging! It was a fun pattern I won a year or so ago in a blog hop. It deserved to be done; the kit came with everything but fusible and batting.

There were a few things that I did that made this fast and easy:

  • Traced shapes were cut out while prepping dinner and placed them in a baggie.
  • Quilting was done by securing the fused appliqué – after sandwiching the layers.
  • Smile was made using a triple stitch on my machine.
  • Single layer binding at 1 3/4 worked perfectly.
  • There’s always a scrap that will work for the hanging corners.

Isn’t it fun that the eyes were enhanced with the fabric! The smile was so much easier to do with that triple stitch.

Also, the binding was put on entirely by machine – sewn to the front in a single layer, pressed away from the front and sewn down from the back. It worked like a charm!

So, my monthly goal OMG was achieved as well as an item on my 3rd quarter list. Yippee!

Some secret sewing was done, too. An Island Batik Ambassador project is making a rep sample. I finished mine and it will be on it’s way in the mail today. You can see my last one here. Remember to check out The ambassadors projects for this week – the fabrics are new from spring market and they are gorgeous. Giveaways? Oh yeah, from Island Batik and many of the ambassadors! Here’s a list of this weeks projects:

Monday, August 6 – All A Flutter – Yellow Cat Quilt Designs, Creative Blonde

Tuesday, August 7 – Birds N’ Bees – Ark Angel Creations, Patterns By Jen

Wednesday, August 8 – Canterbury Manor – Sally Manke, Powered By Quilting

Thursday, August 9 – Eclectic Garden – Desert Bloom Quilting, Sew Karen-ly Created

Friday, August 10 – Vintage Morris – MooseStash Quilting, Devoted Quilter

Next week, I will be working on a quilt for the guild show in early October. Each member of our bee contributed a fabric; the theme is summer/beach. I have seen a few and they are great – so I need to get my thinking cap on!
