Charming Baby – Hands2Help Quilt

I am pleased to show you my quilt, Charming Baby. It was begun last year in April 2018 during my Spring Fling Quilting Retreat. If I remember correctly, this was a prize during our little Saturday game night. I promptly started sewing the charms and selected a background and then dropped it until a few weeks ago.

It really is a simple quilt:
1. Pair up 2 charms from charm squares
2. Sew on opposite sides
3. Cut in half
4. Sew into 4 rows of 21 half charms
5. Add solid between rows and on outside. (5” strips)
6. Add 2.5″ strips across the top.
7. Sandwich, quilt & bind (look how fast that step is when you are writing it – Haha!).

You have a quilt that will measure about 36.5 x45.5

Quilting was pretty simple. I did walking foot quilting on a diagonal on all the long strips. I then used my 2 1/2″ rope border* template from Westalee for the quilting in the larger solid areas. I really like the way it looks. The quilting is just dense enough for a cuddly baby quilt.

It has been mailed to Jack’s Basket, and was a part of my Hands2Help contributions. Sincere thanks to Sarah Craig for all this does to help so many charities with her challenge – it has been a great privilege to contribute this year. It has grown from 7 quilters making 60 quits in 2011 to 150 making 416 in 2018. It will be fun to see the numbers this year!! I also listed this as my OMG (one monthly goal) for May and one of my 2QFAL2019 goals. Yipee!

Ready to mail!

I have had a great time with my aunt, who has been such a good patient and had a great doctor. She is well on her way to recovery and I am returning to MA/ME on Sunday!
