Been Busy in the Quilting Studio

I am loving these last few weeks of summer. In Casco Bay, we had some very thick fog on date night – a little more mystery and intrigue! It also reminds me how grateful I am for radar when we have a night like that – you couldn’t see far at all.

Anyway, right now I have little projects and one large one just added to my plate. That being said, I think the pace for the upcoming fall will be good. I’ll show a little bit about what I have been doing.

Our Sew Let’s QAL is nearing an end. I finished block 13 and the small project. I can’t show you either of them, until Tuesday the 27th. However, here is a peek at the finished project. I am loving being a little ahead…it always seems like a major achievement. You can find this QAL on the Partners In Design Facebook page or under the tab Sew Let’sQAL on my blog. All the patterns are still available, but some may not be at the end of the hop (September 24th the grand prize winner is selected). You could still do the Segment 3 projects and be eligible for that prize if you hurry.

I am cutting and sewing Sherry’s Barn BOM and am loving it. I have a little package of pieces, some HST that are sewn together and the rest are all cut for Block 1. I am off to a little gathering tomorrow so I should make more headway on it – I expect to have it done by weeks end. Updates are the first Wednesday of the month, Sept. 1. Get the pattern here* and some fabric and hop on board! It is a great quilt.

I am testing out my block for the September Island Batik challenge. Above is a picture of one test block before it is sewn. I am still working on the design, but its coming along. Its not a big quilt, so finalizing it will be fun. This was cut with the Accuquilt die called Crossed Canoes. It is a 9” finished block. I have a three to make, but am missing one tiny piece. I hope it resurfaces, but I think I will make a little table runner from these blocks. I have to design the other quilt, and am working on that. Speaking of Island Batik, there are new quilts this week too for the Beat the Heat Blog Hop AND giveaways through Island Batik and the ambassadors – mine is here – and many are open through the end of the month.

This may be the tea I use for my Tea Challenge quilt in our bee. The exercise is to make a quilt based on the name of a tea. Well, this may be the one striking my fancy! I drew up a little thing in EQ8 – now to hunt around for fabric and finalize the design. Our quilt show is the first weekend in October, and this will be small and fun. I was going to do one called “Sleep With Me” but it was more of a movie or novel or short story – not a quilt.

I did get some great news that there will be some secret sewing for spring quilt market! I am super excited – one of my designs will be in the Island Batik catalog…..a first for me.
