Tips and Tutorials on the 22nd – #24

Happy 24th edition of Tips and Tutorials on the 22nd! I am ready to celebrate this momentous event. In January, I am hosting a challenge to celebrate tips and tutorials. Put your thinking hats on and come up with the best tips and tutorials that you can. You can post any time you want during January, but the linkup will be like all prior #TTot22 have been – you have between the 22nd and the 31st to link up your post. THEN there will be gifts! I have half a dozen charm packs that I have collected that will be awarded randomly to those who link up to the party.

For now, I have you covered…there is a linkup too this month, but I have curated a lot of fun. In fact, there was much more to post but there is only so much space….so here we go.

Tutorials

Have you been looking for a new ending? I love this tutorial from Susan at Quilt Fabrication about three different border treatments.  I hope you try one of them in the new year.

Thresa’s videos are quick, simple bust most of all informative. This one caught my about fabric folding, as it can give texture to that special project.

Everything to take the intimidation out of making your own quilt labels is in this video series from Missouri Star.  I love that there are handwriting exercises to practice your lettering.

HRT – Half rectangle units are always tough without a special ruler.  This looks to be a perfect tutorial from Joanne,  at Canuck Quilter Designs, to make some.  I have dreams of scrap quilts with HRTs, do you?  I am loving the idea of a fleet of scrappy sailboats with this technique.

Fun projects

What to do with your leftover batting scraps?  Here’s a lovely Christmas Tree

Scrappy fabric ornaments are really so darn adorable and perfect for the quilters tree.  And who doesn’t love the added bonus of using up your favorite scraps.

I love embroidery and the thought of making the confetti on the Cookies for Santa Mug Rug by Samelia’s mum is just too tempting. Its a simple free pattern, but I bet it will spark some of your own ideas, too!

Oh my goodness, finally a use for old Aurifil spools.  Look at this wonderful tutorial for Christmas Trees by Karen at Sew Karen-ly Created.   Now I can feel justified and save them as I have a way to use them.

©Riley Blake

Love this little gift tag tutorial by Maddie Butler for Riley Blake. I hated when the kids only wanted gift cards, but this would make it so much more fun to give!

@Slice of PI Quilts

I love this ornament from Laura at Slice of Pi Quilts. The texture is really so much fun. She did with an Accuquilt die, but this is on my list to experiment on my Cricut!

Now Its Your Turn:

Please link up any tip or tutorial you would like to share for December 2021. It does not have to be a new one, but should be quilting or sewing related!
