TGIFF – Charity Quilts

And, I am back hosting Thank Goodness It’s Finished Friday! In case you don’t know Thank Goodness It’s Finished Friday is an intercontinental CanAussie (Canadian-Australian) initiative by M-R of QuiltMatters and Laura of Quokka Quilts that has been encourage quilters since 2014! How fun is that?  While it is for a Friday, we go live Thursday at 6 p.m. and end Saturday at midnight. This is so that quilters from all over can link up their finishes.

I have 3 lovely finishes to show you. These really are finishes for me because I did not piece the tops. Members of a guild that I belong to, Rising Star Quilters, made the tops and I quilted and bound them.

First up is a lovely cat and dog animal quilt. We call the pattern Easy Bricks. I decided to add more interest by using the design below to quilt it.

I quilted it with an alpahabet which will be a fun find when it’s recipient is a bit older. The “blocks” were joined and were able to be an entire row. It is a lot of fun watching people find the letters.

The second is a wonderful splash of pink. This is a small Yellow Brick Road* Pattern by Atkinson Designs.

I liked the open feathers pattern on it, and it worked out perfectly.

The third is my favorite. The pattern is called Crosswalk Quilt, I think from this is from this Missouri Star video.

To quilt it, I used this interlocking circle pattern and loved the way it turned out. For another quilt, I might overlap the rows to get the same effect as the horizontal rows. I wanted this to be a bit more cozy so decided against that. I wasn’t sure what the effect would be when I made it a repeating design but I loved it.

This room is where the last bits were sewn. I was on an overnight retreat with 4 other quilters from our little quilting bee, a subset of the guild. It was a delightful cottage that overlooked a pond. I am grateful for the chance to sew with friends and soak up the beauty that surrounded us! We weren’t all set up and by the time we were there was much more stuff all over the place.

I hope you have a finish to share. But, don’t worry, TGIFF happens every week, so if you aren’t ready to link up, there is next week, hosted by Gail at Quilting Gail. Also, there are still a few hosting opportunities this year, so if you need some motivation here’s the link….https://tgiffriday.blogspot.com/p/hosting-tgiff.html

What pretty quilts! The plaid fabric with hearts on that splash of pink one – oh my! Your quilting is incredible, and you can see the quilting in that photo of all three quilts. Looks like a magazine cover!

The retreat cottage looks lovely, and I’m sure it was delightful to be sewing with friends once again. Nice finishes on the three quilts – I like all the quilting designs, but those spirals are very cool.

Hi Kathleen! Oh, that room where your retreat was held looks fabulous. I don’t think we have places like that around here, or not that I know of. All of the quilting patterns you chose for the quilts are fun, but I really am drawn to the alphabet one. Happy Friday to you! I have no finish to share but I’ll check out the link ups. ~smile~ Roseanne
