And, I am back hosting Thank Goodness It’s Finished Friday! It is my pleasure to share my version of the scrappy Granny Block quilt.
I belong to a small group of quilters who met during the 2017 New Quilt Bloggers. One of us egged the group on to make a quilt together, but separately. The quilt chosen was the Scrappy Granny Squares Quilt Pattern by Quilt Love/Emily Dennis Creative LLC. You can see some of the other versions: Jan’s, Nancy’s, Wendy’s and Rose’s. I’m the last to finish, but that is ok with me.
My plan solidified when I won a great jelly roll of Snippets from Scott Fortunoff @ Jaftex Corporation during the Quarantine Trivia. Right now he is doing “School with Scott” and you can enter to win prizes by watching the video and answering the questions.
I had fun working on it. I had ordered some gray and white low volume prints and I thought it would be fun with this pattern.
I had a little trouble quilting it – for some reason my thread was acting up. Before I get too close to quilting another quilt, I will make sure to do a test sandwich to see what is going on. I used a lofty polyester and it does give a lot of definition to the quilting.
The pattern I quilted it was from Handiquilter and is available via there facebook page. Here is the link for Home and Heart. Fun fact – this design was inspired by another quilter form the 2017 New Quilt Blogger Group, Laura Piland of Slice of PI Quilts and her quarantine quilt, Stay at Home.
In many ways, this was a true quarantine quilt, but I am turning its purpose into something good. It will go to Jack’s Basket, where quilts are given as part of a basket for families celebrate and welcome a Down’s Syndrome baby into a family.
The back, too, is an expression of love, with all the joyful hearts on the fabric. I will wash and send this off to MN in the next few days.
Be sure to link up your finishes this week!
Oh, and if you are having fun linking up, my #TTot22 Tips and Tutorials on the 22nd is another place to link those kinds of blog entries. Love to see new or favorite tips and tutorials. Check them out, even if you don’t have own.
