July Goals and a little Fun

fireworks

Quilting has ground to a halt; July 4th has come and gone. It was an uneventful and quiet one; my husband and son on the road for most of the day. Jonathan drove John to Somerville, where he lives and then back in the same day a 4 hour round trip plus 2 ferries. We expected travel to be lighter on the 4th itself and it was.

So, what did I do? I made this mask. It is from Julie, The Crafty Quilter and can be found here. I loved this mask. Having a channel and one tie is the way I went (Julie gives you a lot of options) and this may become one I make for some people. I know I will get a lot of wear out of the one I made, plus it goes with everything.

I am having trouble motivating myself. I worked ahead on a BOM that I participate in as an occasional host, so next months block is done (can’t show it yet). Managing my lists has become an obsession, but I know what is on my book for the month. So, I am going to try to set off a firecracker or two!

#11 Jelly Roll Rug

I am going to get this jelly roll rug done! It is my OMG (one monthly goal).

#2 Japanese Puzzle

I am going to start piecing this. My design wall looks good with this on it, but it is time.

Remember, tomorrow is the big announcement for Partners in Design….I really am so excited about it.

I lined a mask from the the very same Hoffman batik. I’ll have to take a look at Julie’s pattern! Perfect fabrics for the seascape quilts. Wishing you a productive week!

I love that fabric and thought it would be fun. May make another as I need to reorient the palm trees! Hoping for a productive week, too.

Must have been the weekend for mask making; I made three, but still need to make another one for myself. I use a very similar pattern; it’s the best fit for me. Looking forward to seeing the Japanese Puzzle take shape!

That’s the pattern that I like using for masks, too. I have a few more I need to get around to! Your Japanese puzzle is looking great! I’ve wanted to make that pattern, too. I’m working on granny square blocks today.

You are getting a lot done! I think once I piece the first group I will move through it pretty quickly. Will tackle the rug first…fast to do again once I get back into it.

I loved that it worked! I was so afraid it wouldn’t and that would have become a stumbling block. Finishes are so much fun and its hanging in my office.

Hi Kathleen! A quiet 4th was celebrated around here, too. Except for the neighbors shooting off fireworks until all hours. Wow, those Japanese Puzzle pieces look interesting. I can’t wait to see it all together. ~smile~ Roseanne

I can’t wait to see it together too! Been staring at it too long on the design wall and it is impossible to move. If I take it off, it won’t ever get finished!

The first mask pattern was pleated with fabric ties. Mask 2.0 was fitted with t-shirt string for ties. So much better. Japanese puzzle seems like a tall order. May be a difficult fabric/quilt problem is exactly what we need to tear our minds away from the news and the darkness in our world. Fourth was quiet till Paul surprised me with fireworks – cause we did not go anywhere this time.

Fireworks and Paul sounds perfect. I hope you are right about the difficult problem being good during these times. We are staying well, and this should be doable. Just gotta get myself into high gear!
