A goal and a couple of things coming up.

One monthly goal time is here! Patty at Elm Street Quilts continues to encourage us to finish some piece of a project each month. The first one I’m committing to is for an upcoming blog hop.

Carla at Creating in the Sticks is hosting this. I’m up on Wednesday, January 23rd and think I know what I’ll do. I did find another piece I was getting distracted by – Squirrel!! – but I think I’ve returned to safe ground and will go with my original plan.

I am so darn excited to be returning as an Island Batik Ambassador! This is such a great gig – fabric, thread, batting and challenges are in store again, one a month for 12 months. New ambassadors just found out today and boxes are arriving as I type this. Reveals will come soon – we are focusing on the Getaway right now!

This picture is the car ferry to the island I live on part time. It’s not looking like this today but the ferry is one of my real Getaways – an island sanctuary even in the dead of winter.

Happy Monday.

Hi Kathleen! Oh that car ferry looks like fun to me, even in crappy weather. We had a chance to take a few ferries on some trips to the UK and Ireland. I loved the nice slower mode of transportation yet you could take your vehicle with. We were on a bus, but it was still very enjoyable. I’ve taken the slow ferry across Lake Michigan a few times as well. It’s amazing how big that lake is! Anyway, I look forward to seeing your black and white hop piece. Those colors are classic and always beautiful in my mind. Happy Happy Tuesday to you. ~smile~ Roseanne

I love ferries – have taken them in Nova Scotia and Cape May and Bermuda (I think that’s it). Ours is a lovely one, 15 minute ride from Portland Maine. We don’t take the car every time, but a little more often in the winter as the street is a bit treacherous we live on one the ice/snow are permanent (not quite yet). On a bus and a ferry – that is quite something and that lake is huge! I better get sewing – I have a lot to do!!

That is a cool photo of the car ferry. How long is your ride to the island? I hadn’t heard of the B&W blog hop, so I’ll be watching for your post. I’m trying to keep the squirrels quiet in my quilt room; I have a lot of catching up to do on current projects!

The ride to the island is 15 minutes! The B&W blog hop is sponsored by Carla @ Creating in the Sticks – who is a new IB ambassador (I think). It should be a good time – just a B&W quilt with maybe a dash of color!. Those pesky squirrels….

I am thrilled to be doing it again – I think the pacing will feel much better the second time around.

Yea Kathleen! I’m so happy for you, you’re a wonderful Island Batik ambassador and I know they are happy to have you.
Your photo looks like quintessential Maine, I hear the fog horns. I miss New England

You are too kind. I have really enjoyed it!! It is quintessential although hubby fell down the stairs on the ice tonight – also quintessential. He’s fine except for a wounded ego.
