I am pleased to report that I have another finished quilt, one of my own design. I don’t know why, but I was so in love with this typewriter/glasses/notebook fabric! It was reflective of my past and some of what I did for a long time (typing for a living). I wore glasses much of my life and, before quilting, I definitely had a stationery obsession. So, who wouldn’t want this fabric?
I learned to type a long time ago – on a manual typewriter. My first class was a short course in summer school. That was a enough to get started and allowed me to get pretty good at it. Then, as a senior, I needed a filler course so I took it again. I remember sailing through it, but, because I knew how to type I had to fake it. Also, I remember getting hysterical and laughing so hard at my swearing like a sailor when things went wrong. Of course, Sister ? couldn’t hear me over the typewriters clacking – thank God.
Percy wasn’t pleased that my attention wasn’t focused on him. I really wanted to finish – we were going back to Maine on Sunday, which meant I wouldn’t be able to get to it again until July. I wanted it finished this quarter and it is!
The back is pieced (summer pedicure showing). It has my label and some threads that are still not cut! It was more important for me to finish it rather than tidy it up, so I skipped that for now.
I wanted a picture in a little more light. Again, Percy was sure I was spreading it out for him to pose on! It must be great to think everything is about you!
Another attempt at a quick, but artistic picture.
