Another UFO finished – Yippee!

fullsizeoutput_1394This little wallhanging (mini quilt) is finally done! I started it, maybe in 2008, and finally finished it two days ago. I am still wrangling with my blog change to WordPress, but that is done, so there will be what seems like a flurry of posts from me.

Here is what it looked like when I picked it up again and committed to finishing it during this quarter with 2018 FAL (finish-a-long) project. Goal setting blogs/challenges have been great for me; they keep me moving along.

Moreover, I enjoyed doing the hand appliqué and have a few more hand projects to get back to. This is encouraging me to pick up some of them again. There may be two quilts in Maine to do by hand and one in Massachusetts – some were already on the APQ (all people quilt) 2018 UFO Resolution list for this year, so I will see if one gets added to this quarter’s projects.

Most of you probably know  this technique for hanging small quilts – a triangle in each corner.   My decision to bind by machine was dictated by this quilt’s use, a wall hanging,  and its destination, a boutique item in the fall.

So, there it is!  One more finish and I am feeling quite good about this quarter’s goals.  I only have one thing to do to finish my June deadlines, but it will wait until tomorrow.  That means it will finish July 1, but it won’t be so bad.

Your applique stitches are beautiful, Kathleen! Nothing like a deadline to keep us moving forward. You’re going to sell it at a boutique in the fall?

How true about deadlines! Yes, the boutique is at our guild, and it generates a little income for me, more fun than anything. I have rather run out of places to keep things, so I am being more selective about what I hold on to…

What a pretty little piece! I’m sure it will sell quickly. I really like that backing fabric, too. Kinda funky and old fashioned at the same time 🙂

Thanks, Louise! It was fun to get back to it and have it done. The backing was a fun fabric, but am trying to use things up, so off it went to finish up this project.

Congratulations on the finish! It’s so gratifying to set goals and cross them off the list. 🙂

It really is so great to be getting these things done. Not working as much as I was, and using my time better is certainly a big help.

I know, what a good one to keep on hand! I have a few interesting little stripes that I have kept for just the right quilt. My collecting (hoarding) paid off!
